PROJECT MANAGER - Contract or Temporary to Perm

Job Description:

We are recruiting for a general contractor that provides construction services throughout the US to one of the major telecommunication providers. We are looking for a contract or temporary project manager that can manage the day to day operations for these projects in the Wichita, Kansas area. The successful candidate will manage subcontractors’ interface with the owner, as well as any local stakes holders (e.g., permit office, county inspectors, etc.). This position may become a full time permanent position for the right person.

This individual will be responsible for a wide range of activities related to the completion of projects, such as installation of underground fiber optic cable, overhead electrical wires, and various other types of civil construction projects. For example, this individual will identify and screen subcontractors, schedule their arrival at the site, monitor schedule, update budgets, and review the closeout package.
The main responsibilities will include:
• Leading and managing all project teams, including Project Engineers & Asst. Project Managers, Superintendents and sub-contractors.
• Working closely with the Pre-Construction team to determine an accurate and obtainable budget and project schedule.
• Coordinating the RFI, change orders, and submittal process.
• Obtaining all permits from necessary sources.
• Oversee and manage the schedule and review work in progress to ensure compliance with contracts and obligations.

Job Requirements:

• At least 15 years’ experience in commercial construction, preferable in site utilities.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work in both a team environment and an independent setting.
• Familiarity in one or more of the following areas:
o MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
o Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera is a plus.
• Experience in managing simultaneously, multiple projects with independent schedules and budgets.
